Living like the Lorax

https://www.earlymoments.com/dr-seuss/List-of-Dr-Seuss-books1/The-Lorax/
In class this past week we read "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss. We read how there used to be Truffula Trees, Brown Bar-ba-loots, and a lot of wildlife all over the land. It was sad when their home got destroyed because the Once-ler wanted more Thneeds! There was only pollution left over after all the trees were cut down. The animals had no other choice but to leave. I want to focus on the end of the book when the Once-ler says, "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot nothing is going to get better, it's not." Keeping our environment clean is very important. Imagine what our home would look like if we didn't take care of our Earth!

Please click on the following link, read the list of what you can do to help the Earth, and then answer the questions:

Do you think we have problems with pollution where we live?
What can you do from the list to help our environment become a better place?
What can you tell your friends and family to get them to think about keeping our Earth clean?

Once Upon a Time...

In class this week, we went over our Parts of Speech! Words in English can be tricky, but practice makes perfect, right? In this post I attached a link to a game for you all to play and work on your parts of speech. Let's quickly review what our 4 main parts of speech are. We have nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. These parts of speech are words that can make funny, crazy, sad, happy, and serious sentences, and those sentences can create a story! Click the blue link below this paragraph when you are ready to create your story. Make sure you pay attention to which type of word you are supposed to use in the blanks, or your story won't make sense! Also, be as creative and as silly as you want, it will make the stories better.

If you really liked your story and it is appropriate for class, feel free to bring it into class on Monday and share it with us all!

Welcome Class!

As you all know, my name is Miss Emilee, and I teach English to third grade students. This blog is available to my students and their parents or guardians who want to see what our classroom experience is like. On this blog I will post about  new and fun things happening in our classroom, homework assignments, and extra tidbits that go along with our lessons. Students are expected to visit this blog throughout the year to participate in activities, games, and discussions that go along with our lessons in class. This blog will also share our class' news and exciting, upcoming events. Who said learning couldn't be fun? In our class and on this blog, we will have a blast!
